Why you should put your picture and bio on your Helium site

After thoroughly enjoying a fellow Heliumite's article, it is a natural curiosity to want to go to the "About Me" page with the hopeful idea of getting to know a bit more about the writer. I enjoy getting to know something about their inspirations and aspirations and its a pleasure to be greeted by a friendly, smiling face. Its fun to learn how and why this person likes to write!

When a reader takes the time to visit you, it is their way of saying "thank you for writing such a nice piece of work". When readers take the time to visit your page, it is a compliment to you and your work, and that should make you proud to have your work on display. To be able to have an "About Me" page on Helium, offers a fine opportunity to have your work seen by a great audience.

However, when you get to the page and find little to no information about the contributor, its not only disappointing, its rather like reading an exciting book only to discover the last page was torn out!

Further, to take the time to go to the About Me page and find an animal looking back at you, instead of a person's face, almost feels like an insult. As much as I find the gray, empty square a disappointment, how much more so finding something not even human staring back at me. Do not misunderstand, I love animals!

Helium is not the sort of place for this kind of posting. Its about real authors trying to gain real respectability and recognition for their work. How serious is a potential publisher going to regard the work and trust of an author who displays himself in such a light-hearted way by displaying a picture that is inappropriate to the setting.

This shows a lack of respect to your fellow writers, in my opinion. It sends a message that the writer is not very dedicated or serious about what he/she has written....even if he/she is serious! It denotes immaturity in a big way.

It makes me wonder, "perhaps I stumbled onto the only good article this person ever wrote and the rest are probably not worth reading due to observing the person's immaturity in presenting themselves to the public". In other words, I don't bother wasting my time reading the other articles this person wrote. I move on to read other writers work.

For those concerned with "identity theft" issues? Please be assured I just wrote an article about whether or not a person should be buying identity theft insurance to protect themselves.

While doing the research I discovered that "identity theft" is not as huge a problem as
