The power of optimism

by Sharifa

Do you have low self-esteem? Do you feel that you can't make anything of yourself because of a lack of support? Do you feel that you're a nobody because those around you speak to you in a pessimistic way? Are you ready to make a change in your own life? I've got a great idea for you.

Turn their pessimism into optimism. Don't let them hold you back. You are a strong person and deserve the same opportunities as everyone else. Let's say, for example, you were told as a child that you were never going to make it int this world. You were never going to make it out of your hometown. You were a nobody and would never have any friends. That would bring anyone down, wouldn't it? Well, turn it all around. Wouldn't you like an apology from them?

You may not ever think you would go to college because your parents (or guardians) never started a college fund. You suffered a lack of money, and never imagined yourself going, so you never tried to get any scholarships, never took the SAT's, and never filled out any applications. Well, you CAN afford college. Check out online colleges. Look into University of Phoenix, Ashworth College, and several others. Some are more expensive than others, but they all offer reasonable payment plans.

Are you creative? Ambitious? Do you have dreams and goals? start working on ALL of them. Open a new folder (on your computer for safe keeping) for each ambition, goal or dream. Do you want to go hang gliding, parasailing, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, or water skiing someday? Start a folder for Goals, inside that folder, start another folder for activities, and inside that folder, start a new document for each one. On each document, make a list of businesses that offer these activities. Write down their comany names, addresses, hone numbers, web pages, e-mails, or other contact information. Contact them and find out how much they charge. Save up, and accomplish them one at a time.

Do you enjoy writing? Start a book. There are cheap publishers out there that accept manuscripts under 100 pages - it's not like you have to have over 300 pages to be a good writer.

Do you want a log cabin for a retirement home? Design a layout, come up with a list of themes by room, search different websites for items that fit your theme (like find a moose napkin holder, for example, if your kitchen theme was moose). Bookmark all these sites or add them to your favorites. Purchase things a little at a time over time, and begin using them as you get them (donate
