So many people think they have the in' on staying healthy. But do they really? Are we really that informed on nutrition and the benefits of vitamins in our diets? First off here's a list of vitamins our body requires to work, grow and develop properly:

Vitamin A
Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Vitamin E
Vitamin K
Vitamin B1 (thiamin
Vitamin B2(riboflavin)
Vitamin B3 (niacin)
Pantothenic acid
Biotin
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B12
Folate (folic acid)

(Some Facts About Vitamins)

You'd think that being a vegetarian you've got all angles covered when it comes to being healthy right? Actually vegetarians may have deficiencies of the nutrients such as B 12, calcium and iron. People who just want to maintain low fat diets can suffer from Vitamin E deficiencies as well. Our body requires calcium to keep our bones from becoming brittle and weak. Vitamin D walks hand in hand with calcium, you need Vitamin D to absorb the calcium into your body.

A deficiency in Vitamin B 12 can actually mimic certain mental defects, the wrong diagnosis may be made because of the similarities between B 12 deficiency and Alzheimer's disease. Without the help of Vitamin E people may be more likely to get heart disease, prostate or bladder cancer. A symptom Vitamin K deficiency is uncontrolled bleeding. Severe cases usually happen in hospitalized patients on antibiotics with poor food intake. (http://www.evitamins.com/heal thnotes.asp?ContentID=2932003)
