Online radio is here to stay and it is one of the greatest ways for you to find new music. A whole new music world is opened up right before you with internet radio. You are not limited to what a station director wants you to hear. In fact, not only is there a vast array of music to explore through online radio but each online radio service is different and each has it's own unique community.
Live365 - This is one of the biggest online radio services. The free service is the same as the paid service on the site except that if you want it free you receive commercials. There are many thousands of stations to choose from and all you have to do is search for what kind of music or content you want to listen to and Live365 has a station that can fulfill your needs. From mainstream to obscure it can be found on Live 365.com. Old time radio, comedy, comic book talk, Bluegrass, Gospel and punk can all be found there. Blues, R&B or even math rock! If you love African music or Celtic music, Punjabi wedding songs or Tiki lounge music it has it in spades. You can also listen to Live365 stations in your car or from your computer desktop. It's like satellite radio without the price.
Shoutcast - Shoutcast works a lot like Live365.com. Many of the stations found there are electronica music stations but you can find even niche obscure content as well like radio shows dealing with UFO believers and alien abduction phenomena or audio readings of The Lord of the Rings.
Mog - This service is like Last.fm in that it lets you discover and interact with other music fans and you can fins new music through them. It builds an active community unlike Live365.com and Shoutcast which are huge search engine-like station services. You can set up your own blog and personal page and post information there so others can see your musical interests and listening history. Mog has tools for connecting with other users too. Other features include blogging, pages for artists, albums and songs and direct links to iTunes and Amazon for music purchases.
Finetune This is an online social website similar to Mog and Last.fm. It's like an online mixtape. You get a playlist of songs by your favorite artist and related music picked by the Finetune community. Put your playlist on your blog with their player widget and anyone can tune in. There are lots of music widgets to put on your blog to share in real time with other people.
