Massage Therapy is one of the oldest and most effective forms of alternative medicine. From China, to Egypt, to Europe, and to the United States, massage is a global treatment that is proving more necessary than indulgent on a daily basis.
When you first hear about massage, you think it's relaxing, calming, a little rubbing with some oil, and you come out rejuvenized and refreshed. Mostly, this is true. However, I'm sure you don't think about it's effects on every organ system in your body, or how your skin tone and condition could improve with a single session. Massage Therapy is proven to increase fluid around the muscles, lower blood pressure, reduce cellulite, and diminish symptoms of many reoccurring conditions such as migraine headaches.
In recent years, the reintroduction of alternative medicine such as massage and chiropractic in insurance policies, has gained a popular following. These types of treatments are considered preventative medicine and have been proven to reduce the amount of illness one experiences in a year, in addition to reducing depression effects and muscle ailments. Receiving regular massages is not only good for your mental health and well being, but sets you on a promising course of physical health and well being.
Massage Therapy covers many different types of bodywork including acupressure, shiatsu, polarity, reiki, hot stone massage , sports massage, swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and thai massage. Different energy work practices provide wonderful relief for those not comfortable with touch therapies. Any additional therapies can be added or incorporated to enhance the massage experience and provide maximum treatment benefits.
Massage Therapy and Reiki are also now being used in various hospitals and physical therapy clinics. Breast cancer, diabetes, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Bells Palsy, autism, and lymphoma are just some of the extenuating conditions receiving these services in hospitals and clinics across the nation.
Massage Therapy is a rapidly growing career, and finding the right massage therapist might be the best thing you ever did for yourself. I personally recommend it as a CMT and energy worker. Without regular massage and alternative therapies, I have no idea what kind of condition my body would be in. You only have one body, so why not make it the best it can be? Knowing all this, Massage Therapy could never be considered a luxury.
