Poetry: Who I am

by Todd

Created on: February 26, 2008

Madden me, will you,
And teach me to hate,
Your eyes are so cold,
And label me fate,
But you do not own,
What you cannot see,
So help me uncover,
The lies that are me,

Do I love pain, no,
I fear what you stole,
My hopes grow more dim,
By my saddened soul,
You loan me your candle,
To see this dark place,
My stomach then twisted,
On seeing that face,

"LET ME OUT!" I did cry,
As I tore at the skin,
And I felt a warm stream,
As blood dripped from the chin,
My body then panicked,
And struck a coarse stone,
"Stop it, I hate this!"
Now completely alone,

I know it was I,
I felt it before,
Two people within,
I need not see more,

"I know who I am,
Keep up, I won't tell,
I know where I live,
Well prepared for your hell,"
The silence that followed,
Rang off of the walls,
And sharply they echoed,
With shrill, haunting calls,

They pierced my thin ears,
They shattered my skull,
But they don't exist,
With time they grew dull,
I awoke by a mirror,
And viewed my mind's state,
One body, decided,
I am truth, I am fate
