THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
Give me the thrill of the racecourse,
give me the thunder on turf,
give me the thrill of the gamble,
on this auspicious Gloucestershire earth.
Give me the Festivals splendour,
the joy of my colours to see,
hope that the horse I've selected,
hope that a winner I'll be.
Here where the air has a sparkle,
popped with the flow of champagne,
for what life but a gamble,
in this life when a fortunes our aim
Vices I have, and who has'nt,
none of us perfect it's true,
walking with Kings I hav'nt,
but I'm near with this sport that they do.
Here's to the luck of the Irish,
I hope I've the edge by name,
for my heart lies here in Cheltenham,
in the midst of the racing game.

Persistently, a dream indeed
lives on within my mind.
To ride the trails upon my steed
