Well, the Bulls lost. No surprise there. Everyone is saying it was a good performance though. They really tried their hardest. Do you know what trying is? It is an excuse for failure. Sorry coach, we tried to win. Hell, they don't even have a real coach right now. Just like the Bears, I don't see any solution to the problems tormenting the Bulls. When is Paxon going to step up and come up with some solutions. It's almost like he's shying away from them, hoping that everything will work itself out. Well, that just doesn't happen in the NBA. Teams with real executives are making smart, educated moves to better their franchise. It's only fitting that it's our franchise that doesn't want to step up do what's required to bring a championship back to Chicago.
Sadly, the Bears are still all over the place. I'm hearing talks of getting a defensive tackle, maybe even a running back. Is this a joke? It will be hard to stomach watching a game next season if the Jerry Angelo doesn't make some good assessments about the manning on his team. It's also much talked about that he doesn't plan to make any major moves once the free agent market opens up. I'm sorry to tell you folks, but the holes the Bears have will not be fixed from just the draft. It's just not going to happen. It's frightening to step back and look at what we're dealing with here.
Here goes nothing....Still no quarterback, and no news of anything promising to get a quarterback. Both Grossman and Orton have new deals now, and the talk of the town is picking up a QB in the draft. So, that pretty much means the position will again do us absolutely no good, once again. There are so many other holes in the team that picking a QB in the first round would just be devastating. That means we're looking at probably a 3rd round player. Great, maybe we'll just wait until the 6th round and find the next Tom Brady....right.
The wide receiver position looks just as bad. If we sign Berrian, and that's a big if, there is still no clear cut number two WR. I refuse to believe that Devon Hester will ever be a big time offensive player. Step back and rationalize for a minute before you blast me...There's a reason why he was never an offensive threat in college. If he can't be a threat in the college game, do you really think it's going to happen at this level? Nope.
That said, the offense is left stagnant, as Cedric Benson is a huge bust, Greg Olsen seems a bit too robotic, and the offensive line is geriatric central. Even so, the draft trackers have Kentwan Balmer, DT, going with the 14th pick. Overall , it's a sad, sad state of affairs. There isn't even a glimmer of hope that anything can be done to make strides towards a winning team. That, and we still need a safety, linebacker, LT or RG, probably a new water boy and definitely some cheer leaders.
Ok, now that I've started my morning off right, and my brain is really pounding, it's time to daydream about the Cubs winning the Series this year.
