Arts and Entertainment television came tearing into my heart in February of 1984. It was then that it hit the airway with many diverse programs. It is a sister channel to both the history and biography channels. The headquarters are located in Manhattan but there are offices in six cities in the United States. It is estimated that this channel reaches more than 85 million homes. That is quiet impressive.
Originally, A&E paid more attention to culture. Operas, plays, concerts, and various documentaries dominated the station. If someone wanted to curl up on the couch and watch something with class, they could be sure to find that on A&E. As the days went by, the programming slowly began to change. The British programming even diminished.
Now days, A&E has went a different route. They have jumped on the reality television bandwagon, along with the rest of the world. They show both A&E original entertainment and hand me down shows from other networks.
A&E is the home of the show Dog the bounty hunter, which took the world by storm several years ago. Dog is an ex con turned reality bounty hunter in Hawaii. He is a man you just can't help but like. Dog is temporarily off air but will return soon so that bounty hunter fans world wide can get in on the chase with dog and his crew.
Inked is a great show for tattoo fans. It goes inside the lives of a tattoo parlor. This is a fun show for some, but the faint at heart might not want to watch.
Criss Angel is the mind freak. He can do mental tricks that are unbelievable. People are skeptical about how this guy performs these tricks. Are they illusions? Does he have talent? Tuning in is the only way to find out.
Gene Simmons is the original bad guy of rock. It is hard not to watch his life laid, His reality show is anything but boring. Go inside the life of this rocker and his porn star girlfriend of many years. This laid back couple will certainly make you laugh.
My favorite part of A&E is the documentary series type shows. They offer titles such as, "True Crime", "American Justice", and "Cold Case Files. During these shows, you will learn about a real criminal case that happened. They will lead you through the whole thing step by step sharing details along the way. This is an excellent and entertaining way to learn new things.
As if there weren't enough great shows, A&E has recently began to show Soprano reruns. This is the bonus plan for those who just can't get enough of these guys.
There are many original shows to choose from on this fun channel. It might not be the best one on the air but it certainly isn't the worse. For complete program listings and fun facts that matter to the A&E community, visit their site at www.aetv.com.
