The Scripture, 1 Timothy 6:10(KJV) tells us that, "for the love of money is the root of all evil: while which some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Notice the Scripture says, "for the love of money is the root of all evil." It's a good thing to have money. Money has and are still being used to do many wonderful things. The problem is when money becomes the main focus at the expense of everything else. For the "love of money", man will lie, steal, and even kill. Whenever I hear stories of corruption in the Church involving money, I'm reminded of the Scripture, Matthew 21:12-13, when Jesus drove out those who brought and sold in the Temple and turned over the table of the Money Changers. Jesus said to them, "my house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves." In many churches today, the focus has been taken off of God Almighty and the "almighty dollar" has became the main focus.
Not only in the churches have money become the main focus, but in every sector of society, the "almighty dollar" has become the main focus at the expense of everything else. At the root of this current economic crisis is man's greed for more money. The abuse of power among those in leadership positions are alarming. Many of these leaders already had more money than they could spend in their lifetimes, but they still committed all sort of deceitful, evil acts to obtain even more money at the expense are innocent peoples.
Today, many of those who committed all sort of evil acts "for the love of money," are being exposed. As the Scripture states, "they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." Whenever love for the "almighty dollar," becomes the main focus at the expense are everything else, there will definitely be many sorrows to follow. During these rough times, we are seeing many of the sorrows caused by putting money above all else. Many are those who carried out such evil acts because of their greed for money, have lost everything. There is nothing wrong with trying to increase ones wealth, but it should be done with honesty and integrity. As we are seeing today, whatever doing in the dark, will one day come to light. Therefore, in all your business dealing, let it be done with honesty and integrity and in the long run, it will profit you more.
