There are many different hair types, Ethnic hair is on of the most complex. From birth the up keep of Ethnic hair can be challenging. There are many different types of texture, usually it's accordingly. Let's say you have a newborn with fine straight hair, and in three months they have a small afro. As a newborn just keeping the scalp clean and keeping a light oil such as baby oil, but not too much it will develop a crust in the scalp. As the child grows and starts to develop it's natural mane of hair you comb and brush daily. Rubber bands are not good for infants or small children. As your child grows braids are always the best start when the hair is long enough. The hair stays maintained int he braid and light oil and a scarf to tie it down at night will keep it healthy. As your child become adolescence they might be interested in more chemical treatments. Or some type of heat treatment (flat iron, press). At this time make sure you keep the hair conditioned. The best thing to do is not to do too much too your hair don't press it one day and they have a sew in three days later. Find what hair styles suit you and stick with them learn how to maintain your style and keep your beautiful with out over processing it. Do the least to your hair you can constantly combing and pulling can damage your hair. Wearing a scarf at night is important. A Silk or Satin scarf is always best because it retains oil. Lying on a flat cloth surface for long periods of time extracts the natural oil and can cause spot damage. Clipping dead ends every 3 months speeds up the growth process. I opens up the pore for new hair to grow at its healthiest. Don't over wash your hair unfortunately if we wash our hair everyday. It will crumble away. So twice a month is enough or more if you desire. Male hair can be washed weekly especially if its natural with braid or another natural style. Short hair males brush two to three times daily this promotes waves and keeps your hair from balling up. So all in all just remember. Scarf always at night. Do not over process. Clip ends every 3 months to promote growth.
