An issue that will be remembered the most for that season. New England went 16-0 in the regular season but would come up just short making them 18-1 losing to the Giants in the very end but not by much. Spygate is considered a huge hit to New England for that season and to be honest, it's an issue that should be dropped but it never will.
Belichick could now be considered a coach that was once considered great to now someone who cheated to get to the top of the mountain. Is there cheating in the league? Possibly but it's not being talked about public or being made a big deal. Belichick is still the coach and got penalized when he got caught with a fine and losing a draft pick. That seems to be enough of that but it is still something the media loves to bring up over and over again. It is as if it had become a broken record and everyone gets the message. What's done was done and that should be it and it's time to move on with life.
The only reason this is even being brought up has something to do with the fact that the Patriots were the top team and right now is still considered that to an extent. Though they lost to the Giants that would place them as the 2nd best team in the entire NFL going into the next season. New England just happened to be the team that happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The players themselves aren't the ones to be blamed for it; it has to do with the officials that work for New England that's doing the filming.
Was it wrong for it to happen? Yes. Will it happen again? Maybe not New England but it's possibly it could happen to any other team. Will the media even care in the 1st place? That's another story for another story for another time. I don't consider Bill Belichick anything more than a guy that's just a complete sourpuss. He doesn't smile much and does have that perception of being cocky and arrogant but whether or not he really is going to depend on viewpoint.
I wouldn't say to leave the guy alone but I would say that he deserves some credit. At this moment, he is innocent until he's proven guilty of the charges that allegedly having him spying on that game against the Rams in the Super Bowl. To me, it's a case of too little too late and should have been taken care of right then and there, not wait until now. Spygate is over and it's time to get away from it as it had been dealt with and punishment had been given.
