The 2008 spring and summer fashion season is here. Trends seen on the catwalks during fashion week in New York, Milan, and London, run the gamut. The ladies of Rio Grande Valley will have quite a shopping list as the browse flagship stores for the latest couture.
This season's fashions differ sharply from the quiet, casual designs of previous years. Fashion editors, who set the pace in creating trends, have selected a dizzying assortment of fashions for spring and summer. The 2008 trends are more fun, definitely colorful, and capture the essence of a savvy woman with a unique sense of style.
At the recent Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, hip and chic celebrities could be seen posing on the red carpet' in the 2008 spring and summer trends. The cobalt blue Zac Posen minidress worn by Rihanna and Fergie's strapless yellow gown were fashion hits.
Here's a look of what's hot for spring and summer 2008.
BOLD HUES.
If you want to make a fashion statement this season, bold colors are the way to go. Dramatic colors that are deep, dark, vivid, and have mysterious overtones, were highlighted in many collections, including those of designers Mark Jacobs and Zac Posen.
Bold blue tones (like the Zac Posen minidress) are this season's color of choice. You will also stand out in blood reds, intense purples, and lively yet dramatic shades of burnt orange, rose pink, and emerald green. Dark colored jeans have also replaced faded, stonewashed denims.
FLORALS.
Flowers and springtime...fittingly, flower power is all the rage for spring and summer fashions. Designers have brought in their own interpretation of flower inspired themes. Many have featured playful daisies, peonies, and rosebuds in many of the women's ready-to-wear collection.
Many outfits are romantically feminine and reminiscent of a garden in an Impressionist painting. Other items showcase large flowers with large petals once reserved for grandmother's housedress or kitchen wallpaper.
Dresses and tops clouded with oversized floral patterns can be overwhelming. Wearing minimal jewelry, or no jewelry at all can subdue the look. Choose neutral colored shoes and handbags that wont clash with the floral prints.
Women with shorter frames or fuller silhouettes should avoid large floral prints. Wearing large florals with those body types accentuate problem areas rather than flatter the body.
