WHY GO TO CHURCH?
Why go to church and how important is church and church attendance to my "Christian" growth? How do I know I am in the right church? If I don't attend church every week will I not go to Heaven? What good is church anyhow? These are questions a lot of people ask. People go to church and don't go to church for a lot of different reason but what does God have to say about church? Do you realize that the majority of our young people today, under the age of 40 have never seen the inside of a church except for maybe an occasional wedding or funeral or special social event that has nothing to do with "church" itself? That is pretty sad when we are suppose to be a "Christian" Nation.
First off let me make it perfectly clear, going to church on Sunday or Saturday or any other day of the week will not "Save" you, it will not even necessarily make you a better person, "Christian." or whatever your faith is.
Being a member of a certain church or denomination is no promise you will have eternal life, life after death in the Glory of God. It won't make you any more of a "Christian" than holding a slice of bread in each hand makes you a sandwich.
The only way to become a "Christian" is to accept Jesus being the sacrifice for us, come to Him, ask His forgiveness, confess your sins, (The Bible says we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God) and then pick up our cross and follow Him, that means do what He has instructed us to do, live our lives according to His will only. It does not matter what the world thinks, a certain denomination thinks. What matters is what God thinks and whether or not you personally believe and desire to follow Him.
Jesus left us with a simple set of instructions to follow: there are TEN of them condensed into two, (1) "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul and your mind" and (2) "Love your neighbor as yourself." Now how simple is that.
So why go to church? Because God said we should. God said that we should gather together for worship and the strengthening of our faith. Worshiping and fellowshipping together is important or God wouldn't have told us to do it. It should help you grow and become stronger in your faith. You should walk away from a church service with your faith energized, your hope refreshed and your soul filled with glad tidings. When you come to the place of the table of the Lord, which is your church, you should not end up walking away hungry. Your soul should be filled to overflowing.
So what
