Poetry: Pain in life

It wasn't meant to be like this

It wasn't meant to be like this
The absence of your loving kiss
And lonely nights without your touch
My pain filled heart aching so much
Our wedding day with you in white
Tears springing fourth upon that sight
All vows exchanged and love proclaimed
But now your gone my heart in pain

It wasn't meant to be like this
Our lives supposed to fill with bliss
My loneliness now you are gone
You know its you I dote upon
An empty life so full of fear
Oh love it hurts that you're not here
I come to see you each new day
The graveyard bleak in constant grey

It wasn't meant to be like this
Me left alone to reminisce
I've been without you eight months now
Deep furrows etched across my brow
I simply don't know what to do
You know that I relied on you
My days are lost in constant grief
My waking hours hold no release

It wasn't meant to be like this
The absence of your loving kiss
I cannot live without you love
My spirit crushed by grief's iron glove
So as I sit here by your grave
Dutch courage filled to make me brave
These pills will soon make matters clear
We'll be together soon my dear.
