Are you reaching for a peg to seal your nostrils as you cross the threshold to your castle after a hard day at work? Are unpaid bills and strong pungent smells the only things that greet you as you upon entering your home? Bills can be a tricky element to eliminate but ridding your nest of unwanted strong odors is both plain and simple.
Whether it's due to the fact your dog needs washing, the baby needs toilet training or your diet needs to eliminate seafood, odors will accumulate throughout the house over a period of time.
The primary step to elimination is ventilation. Open all viable doors and windows to let the breeze do its natural job. Not only will fresh air temporarily eliminate the nasty stench, it will allow you to easily detect the source of the whiff at a later period.
Pet peeves, so your little baby (usually a furry four legged friend) is at the core of your concern. With busy work and home schedules it is easy to neglect the hygienic needs of our extra additions. However, if a pet is to remain within the home it needs to be kept relatively clean. Washing your pet frequently when odors starts to appear is vital. Antiseptic pet washes are great and sometimes include flea repellents. Mild baby shampoos are another good option for pet care as they are relatively cheaper and milder to animals due having a similar PH balance. Ridding carpets couches and furniture of animal scent is easy with products like carpet deodorizers. These come in various scented and neutral variations. Another alternative is to sprinkle baking soda over troublesome areas, leave to stand for about 15 minutes allowing it to neutralize the smell before vacuuming up.
Kitchen chaos, last nights lingering curry dish, overdue garbage removal and stagnant sinks all leave the kitchen as a number one spot for nasty aromas. Cleanliness is important for a sweet smelling kitchen. Try using essential oils, such as Eucalyptus and tea tree when cleaning floors or work surfaces helps to combat the toughest of smells. Ensure you allow for good ventilation after cooking strong odor meals, extractor fans work well if left on for a little while after cooking has finished. For those intense culinary cuisines stovetop potpourri acts as a miracle worker. Citrus scents such as lemon, orange and grapefruit rinds mixed with cinnamon sticks creates a clean ambiance on the toughest of occasions. Garbage removal should be repeated regularly, not just on collection day. Cleaning the inside of trash cans with disinfectant keeps seeping smells from lingering. By applying bleach to drains and sinks it helps kill any bad bacteria and wishful whiffs.
When the core of the strong odor has been detected and eliminated the next job is to keep it at bay. "Prevention is better than cure" although this term is usually applied in medical terms it quite appropriately fits here. Keeping strong odors at bay can be accomplished through the burning of items such as scented candles, incense sticks and aroma burners. Strategically place items such as potpourri and stand alone air fresheners in trouble areas like the bathroom and kitchen. By using planned out placement of essential oils on items such as cushions, mats, and light bulbs there remains a consistency in scent.
Remember our lifestyles contain plenty of elements that will omit overpowering smells from time to time; however with a little preparation it is possible to overcome these scents effortlessly.
