Home scenting: An overview

Potpourri, Wooden Balls and Scented crystals.
Potpourri is the name given to the dried petals and leaves of flowers. The natural scents of the flowers are enhanced by the addition of oils to the mixture. Wooden balls and scented crystals work on the same principle as they are saturated in oils to create an alluring smell. All three provided instant decorative value to your home and work well in small rooms such as a bathroom or upon entrance to a home in the hall. In larger spaces the scent tends only to remain focused in the area it is situated. All three generally need the addition of extra oils on a frequent basis as the fragrance lasts for only a short period of time.

5. Air fresheners.
The most common air freshener is the type used by our parents and grandparents "back in the day" the aerosol can. This method is a handy way to mask unwanted pungent smells temporarily however has very little lasting effect. The aroma produced from aerosols are usually overbearing and very artificial. For people with asthma and high sensitivity to allergens they are not the best choice for scenting. The more recent improvement on artificial air fresheners comes in the form of the diffusers and plug in varieties. These options allow you to set intensity and time intervals of the fragrance release. All large supermarkets stock a wide variation for a broad spectrum of choice.

6. Solid air fresheners and toilet jellies.
Both of these are perfect for keeping your bathroom smelling fresh and inviting. While solid air fresheners can stand alone anyway in the room, toilet jellies are placed within the toilet to release a fresh smell upon flushing. They also help to combat the bad bacteria that cause nasty smells.

7. Linen sheets.
These are a perfect addition to any spare room in anticipation of the arrival of unexpected guests. The sheets help keep wardrobes and drawers remaining fresh when placed inside. Lavender sheets under pillows also provide a sleep easy environment for visitors.

8. Nature.
Whilst man made variants provide an effective way of allowing you to scent your home in an appealing manner the natural method always remains a favorite. Try to ensure ventilation throughout your home on a daily basis even if it is only for five to ten minutes day. Freshly cut flowers release a beautiful welcoming scent as does a small collection of pine cones.

Scenting your home will always return to personal choice and budget. However with more products than ever available on the market there is no reason as to why any guests should be looking for a window seat in the abode of your home.
