Rio Grande Valley: 2008 Spring and summer fashion trends

The twenty first century catwalk allows women more freedom of dress and expression than at any other time in fashion history. Spring and summer seasons this year will bear testimony to this.

Fashion has exploded into a multibillion dollar industry. In our new age women are chic and experimenting as never before. A vast range of fashion gurus present the most outstanding collections, one more stunning than the next, wowing their public and fans.

It is hard to decide whom to follow. There are just so many different styles and genres available. Everything is so innovative. One design is more alluring and exciting than the next.

Even in the traditionally conservative Middle Eastern and oriental cultures, fashion has made its mark as never before. Customary outfits are still there, but brought right up to date using every imaginable color combination and fabric .Lines are simpler and less fussy. Yet the range and diversity available to the sophisticated modern woman is infinite.

So it becomes difficult to discern exactly what is in' this special year. Starting with color, go green. Make sure that your daily wardrobe has something in the way of a pastel green in it. Green reminds us of the need to be environmentally friendly. However, pastel shades of all varieties are making a great comeback.

Be bold and find outfits with sassy geometric patterns. This year you will find dots and squares and pin stripes on everything from simple frocks to designer eveningwear. Checks are back and look good in any outfit.

Accessorize. The availability of chic and trendy add-ons is never ending. Do not limit yourself as these are interchangeable and can be used and reused from one outfit to another.

Don't forget your sunglasses in the summer to protect your eyes and your make-up in the harsh light of day. Lenses this year are large and frames are imaginative, bold and zany.

Have you noticed how lots of fashionable women nowadays leave a cheeky peek of flesh in their ensembles? Dresses and tops can be slightly low cut and an opening to give just a sneak preview of the cleavage is in. If you have a trim figure, flash the hips or thighs with a fashionable slit and shorter dresses are acceptable. Short pants are on the increase and waist jackets in a variety of colors and fabrics are everywhere.

Belts are particularly fashionable and have you noticed how dressy they have become in their design and construction? They are not always being worn at the waist. Tied around the midriff is an exciting
