place) money towards Aromatherapy's cause to obtain world peace through essential oils.
Your personal space should be filled with a scent that brings a comfort to you, whether that be through the smells of baked goods, florals, or clean scents. I once knew a friend that stuck dryer sheets in her sock drawer because the original Downey reminded her of her mom.
Aside from olfaction (the fancy word for smell), having psychological factors, social and cultural aspects also affect it. In non-Western cultures, smell has been seen as the ultimate sense and some cultures define the world by smell. In Arab countries, breathing on the person you're speaking to relay friendship and decency. Maybe Earl was Tunisian?
Filling your personal space with a smell that is attractive to you is like eating ice cream (or if you don't like ice cream, insert favorite thing EVER here_________) after a long day it's essential. Maybe that's why they call them "essential oils"? I prefer the candle method, and I have discovered a love of those little candle burner plates. They extend the life of the candle to the equivalent to that of a sea turtle. I'm honestly getting a little tired of the "Christmas Berries" that I've been liquefying on that money-saving device since two winters ago.
I have different themes for the seasons as well as each room. In the living areas, I may have scents that invoke a cozy element, like a pumpkin pie or vanilla scent, or combinations of different favorites, especially if the living space if large and open; apple cinnamon in the kitchen, pumpkin pie in the dining room, vanilla spice in the sitting area. I love a more sensual aroma in the boudoir. Find a scent that makes you feel sexy and presto! your bedroom will never be the same. I love, no, make that adore, "Midsummer Night" from Yankee Candle Co. for the bedroom. Root candles are soy-based and clean burning and they have an ample array of scents to choose from.
Yankee Candles (they have a .com, if you love shopping in your pj's like I do) has a fantastic selection of candles and various other smelly products to enhance your living space and thereby, your well being. I love their online store because the entire selection is right there, so if you already have a favorite, you know you can find it. The downside is if you haven't experienced a smell, and since Bill Gates is still working on a computer that allows for scratch'n'sniff, it's better to buy in real life. Just google your favorite candle brand to find a local establishment that carries it. Another site is auracacia.com. Aura Cacia is an organic brand that carries a substantial line of aromatherapy products. I especially like their bath soaks. The fine people at Aura Cacia have also apparently pre-blended all the essential oils into their respective genres (calm, energy, euphoria) to meet your every need, which leaves me with the question, do they have a rich boyfriend scent? Maybe lumberjack will have to do.
