Why you should vote in the next election and why it's worth it

Often, people will say that you should go vote. They will tell a person they are un-American if they vote, or that the person has no right to complain if they did not vote.

Well these people are both right and wrong. People should vote, that is correct, but if you are a person who pays no attention to politics or the government, then do not vote.

If you go to the ballot box and do not know who any of the people you can vote for are, or at least the general positions of the parties that they are a part of, do not vote. I will give an example - during this last election there were several people that were on the ballot to become judges. I had never heard of any of them, and consequently, I did not vote on any of them. I did however vote on every bill that was trying to be passed (because I had read on all of them before hand and established a position) and on every government position that was up (even when I was not quite sure who the people were, but knew where they more or less stood based on party).

If you are no going to vote because you are completely ignorant of politics and the government, that is fine. If you are not going to vote because you do not believe your vote will make a difference - vote anyways. Besides ignorance (you do not want an uninformed vote cancelling out an informed vote) there is not many other reasons why a person should not vote.
