What's Your Sign
On my 30th birthday, I had my astrological chart done by a groovy woman in the back of a groovy coffee house in a (you guessed it) groovy North Denver neighborhood. A friend of mine gave the reading to me as a gift, so she provided the lady who did my reading with my birthday - including the date and time - about a week before my appointment.
We pored over all sorts of charts and, for an hour, she told me all about my past, present and future. I was amazed at how well she knew my personality and, when I left the reading, I was armed with a bunch of cool information that has more or less stayed with me over the last 10 years. I was supposed to become a judge because of my ability to be fair and exercise sharp decision making skills.
I've often wondered about astrology and chart reading...and psychics. We're each such complicated beings - is it really that easy to compartmentalize our character and behavioral traits based on the date and time we are thrust into this world?
My horoscope for today reads:
"Monotony will drag down your mood today, so you should try to welcome any disruptions to your routine with your arms open wide! Too many stale ideas and emotions have been hovering around you for far too long, and you could use something to stir up the stagnancy - even if it's something that you might initially find kind of annoying. Buck up, because this is the beginning of a new phase for you, in which your outlook is much more positive. Things suddenly feel more possible than ever."
Now, that speaks volumes to me because I *hate* monotony. I require the comfort that comes with certain day-to-day routines, but I am a person who gets bored very easily. And, when I get bored, bad things can happen. Not like death and destruction bad - but deciding-that-black-hair-would -look-good-on-me bad (so much for those sharp decision-making skills!).
So, my question is this - when you read your horoscope, does it resonate with you? Have you ever 'cheated' and read someone else's horoscope (like when yours is particularly awful) and find it to be equally meaningful?
I know, I know - it's probably just a ploy for suckers like me. But, if nothing else, perhaps horoscopes provide us with a gentle nudge and get us thinking about the things going on in our lives. Afterall, stagnation is a bad thing no matter what your sign is, right?
