With the violent tendencies we have in the world today added to the anger management issues we all have, any school of any kind should be a complete weapon free zone. Before we decide to allow the students to carry weapons to defend themselves against these horrid acts of local terrorism we have seen, we should find ways to beef up security to protect our future leaders.

No one wants to go to a school in fear of getting hurt or God forbid even killed at school. You could not possibly get a good education if you are always looking over your shoulder in fear some idiot is going to go on a killing spree. But giving everyone the ability to carry a firearm would do the opposite of defending him or her. Then you have to worry about the idiot mass killers as well as angering the kid in row 3 seat 5 in a heated debate in public speaking class. Allowing students to carry firearms would be a more worrisome situation for all of our students. Then they have more than one weapon bearing person to worry about.

I honestly feel we need a safer environment for our students to get an education. Don't think for one second I do not want our students to be defended. But I am sure we have other solutions than handing any student a weapon. We have to remember Guns alone do not kill people, angry minded people kill people. We can't honestly know the personality, or psychiatric issues of every single student attending college at all times. There is no guarantee that the students themselves wont go on a crazed killing spree. Things happen in life. Some issues anger certain people more than others. I think we need to search quickly to find better ways to defend them.

What happens when the students would have the right to carry a firearm and a mass killer does appear one day? The students will be firing and probably only a few choice students will actually know how to use the weapon efficiently. What happens when attempting to hit the killer they hit 3 or 4 other students on accident. Now that poor student who tried to defend his classmates has ended up on the wrong side of the table in the interrogation room. This will also add more stress in convicting the right person responsible for the horrid act in the first place. Now the attention is addressed to the students who accidentally fired but missed the person they were targeting. So they will suffer horrible consequences for trying and save the day. I honestly think by giving students the right to carry firearms would only make matters just as bad if not worse. There has to be a more logical choice in how we can defend our children so they can get a worry free education.

We need positive reaction solutions to these problems we are having on campuses. There has to be reasons these idiots are doing these insane acts of local terrorism. Something had to flip the switch of insanity in their head. By no means should anyone be allowed to hurt hundreds of hard working students because of a beef they had with the school. And if they are not students they have no reason to be there. We have to have a positive way to keep them off campus if they need not be there. Millions of things anger us every day but you don't see us at Wal-mart killing the customer service representatives and 30 other people shopping there because the toaster we bought was broken and they won't refund our money. People just need to think about what they are doing before they grab a gun and go take their frustrations out.

I feel really badly for those victims who never got the chance they deserved to complete their education. But I hope and pray we can find other solutions within the security systems and local law enforcement agencies to help protect our students in college.
