Comparing MacBook Air with MacBook Pro

There are no such things as best between these two products. Depending on the consumer you are, you may prefer one over the other.

The Macbook Air, the latest of Apple's laptop line up is a love letter to fashion. Not just fashion but business travelers may want to look into purchasing this device. Its extremely light, about 3 lbs, and has a striking razor profile. There's still a fairly large 13.3 inch screen and a full sized keyboard to keep the laptop friendly to adult sized hands and weary eyed individuals.

However, while you may think the "oohs" and "aahs" to its dimunitive features, there's nothing really groundbreaking here. The technology keeping the slim form factor is quite stunning, but its all superficial.

The cpu isn't that powerful, but it has enough juice for photoshop, which is somewhat of an aggressive productivity application. The touchpad uses a gesture based control similar to the ipod, giving it a more streamlined use.

What really sets this laptop apart from the Macbook pro is the wireless connectivity it has. Sporting a 802.11n, it can connect to your cd drive in your desktop seamlessly. And with the speeds of the current wifi adaptor, you'd think that the drive is physically in your macbook air. It also has bluetooth to embrace the "wire less" concept. This device was created so that it can be moved from place to place effortlessly.

Continuing on towards the macbook pro, we can see it has more power for home and business use. The cpu and graphics card can handle everything you need. Professionally, 3d designer programs such as maya run smoothly. For entertainment, high profile games such as team fortress 2 can run without a hitch. The 15 inch or 17 inch screen provides more real estate on your OS. There are addtional ports for you to use from firewire to extra usb ports. Macbook Pro also utilizes the fast wireless 802.11n. To sum it all, this laptop has what macbook air has to offer in productivity and more. Unfortunately you can also see it in the price, size, and weight.

As the more compact devices start gaining even more marketshare, apple is definitely claiming a larger spot in the niche.
