critics should brace for an aggressive examination of this issue. His Democratic opponent will be eager to field test the Keating 5 Scandal, and McCain's role, immediately. This portion of the story is indisputably accurate. Many felt that McCain got off lightly. Maybe he received a war hero's pass, here. Sorry folks, he's running for president. Everything is fair game.
The New York Times, in my opinion, incorrectly placed this story in a news section. Judging from the articles premise, I'm fairly certain that the reporters are expressing opinion. By treating this as straight news, the paper may have misled its readers. Media experts, posing as "non partisan watch dogs", can say whatever they'd like, on FOX. The paper has a right, and duty, to question the Senator's double standards regarding words versus actions. Personally, I feel this character issue is far more relevant than fabricated stories about a Presidential candidate's conduct during the Vietnam War. Hopefully, the right wing carping won't deter the paper's determined, yet careful, commitment to stay on this story!
Interestingly, McCain never once, during his blistering rebuttal, defended Iseman, personally. He could have lamented that HER privacy has been compromised, by this story. He didn't. That is neither gentlemanly, nor ethical!
