The Sci-Fi channel has been around since the early 1990's. It has some of the most fascinating shows on television. The line-up contains plenty of variety that not only touch on science fiction but also the paranormal, fantasy, as well as horror. This is a highly successful network with such classics as The Twilight Zone and the Night Gallery to current series that air weekly.
There are a number of Star Trek type series such as Lexx, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis, Farscape, and Stargate SG-1. All of these shows are based on a spacecraft that takes a crew to different galaxies or different planets. They seem to be liked a lot by viewers since so many of these type of programs exist on the Sci-Fi Network.
One of my favorite shows is Ghost Hunters. This series airs weekly and explores the paranormal. Two guys (Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson) go on a hunt to find ghosts. A person contacts them to let them know that they believe that there are possibly ghosts in their home and the ghost hunters go to investigate the situation. It always keeps my attention.
A show similar to Ghost Hunters is Destination Truth. The host Josh Gates takes the viewer on a journey to areas that are believed to have unusual happenings or supernatural creatures such as flying dinosaurs. Mind Control with Derren Brown is an unusual and sometimes weird program that shows Brown's mind controlling skills. He plays mind tricks on people where they can do the weirdest things such as drawing a circle around their wallet on the street believing that the circle will protect the wallet from being stolen or making a person believe that the sun disappeared.
The line-up on the Sci-Fi network is a very successful one receiving large ratings. Eureka (which is based in the town where strange things occur), Dresden Files (a comical view of a wizard/detective who battles dark forces), Flash Gordon, First Wave (about a man who battles with extraterrestrials who killed his family), Invisible Man (which is about an experiment that went wrong), a revamped Dr. Who, and the return of the wrestling series ECW are all of the programs that are well-received by the Sci-Fi audience.
As the Sci-Fi network continues with its well-received programming they will be premiering two more series entitled Living Hell and the Puppet Masters (starring highly acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland). The Sci-Fi channel also switches things up with some science fiction movies and specials such as Spooked: the ghosts of waverly hill sanatorium and the Bermuda Triangle: startling new secrets. This network has a bright future ahead of them.
