From the moment we take our first breath we are already dying. This is a very sad way to view a birth, but is it not so? Can anyone actually tell me that we are not going to die? One can call it fate, destiny or just a simple fact of life, but death is waiting for each and every one of us and I for one am glad.

Not to say that I look forward to that inevitable moment in time and place when I lay down and die, but to know that someday I too will walk the path of my ancestors is a comforting thought indeed. I do not wish to live for an eternity. There is absolutely no reason to do so. We can only accomplish so much in the one life we are given and we can only hope that we have done our best in all the ways that matter the most.

I am not a success in the business world, but I get to spend a lot of quality time with my children, raising them and teaching them. I am not a famous athlete, movie star or chef, but my husband gets to see me and he knows that I love him and that everyday I strive to make our lives comfortable and happy.

Life is precious, but it would not be so unless it was also fragile.

Everyday on Earth is a miracle and we must realize this early on and strive to make our lives count to ourselves above all others. Our lives must be worthy; to fail completely is to waste God's own gift to us: Life.

Life is a gift and Death is a certainty. Mortals do enjoy thinking of death, neither for themselves nor for the ones that they love and hold dear. But to put blinders on and to pretend that Death does not exist or that it does not happen is to live a complete and utter lie.

Life is a blessing and Death can be a blessing as well. Disease, pain and suffering: Death can be a wondrous thing indeed to these types of human frailties. One must be able to deal with Death and not allow it to foreshadow ones life. It will be there when the time comes, waiting to take each of us on the mysterious journey.

There are choices that we can make in our lives which may or may not determine the way in which we will meet our Death. I do not believe it is written in stone when and how we will die, but how we live can certainly factor in.

Smokers will get cancer and cancer can lead to death. Is this a foregone conclusion? No.

People who overeat will develop heart problems and this will lead to their death. Another instance where the conclusion is already stamped in ink? No.

People who run five miles per day and drink lots of water will live to be 100. Can we safely state that this is accurate? No.
Death will come for each of us. Sometimes how we live our lives and sometimes not factors in to the how but never to the fact!
