If you had all the money in the world, what changes would you make to your vacation home? For some the answer might be something as simple as adding a deck onto the back of the house, or something more complicated such as completely renovating their kitchen. There are a number of options that you can do to add a little more luxury to your vacation home.

The first luxury home improvement tip that many home owners are using is adding granite to their homes. Granite can be used as a flooring option, or for counter tops. The material is available in a variety of colors and styles, and also adds a significant value to the house. Even using granite flooring in the bathroom can make the house look more upscale and luxurious.

Concrete may not sound like a luxury item, but it can be. Concrete counters originally jumped in popularity a few years ago when used as kitchen counters, and has since spread to other uses. Today you can find concrete tiles that upscale and fancy, but are easy to install. They can be decorated in a variety of styles, stained in almost any color, and cut into different sizes. The pieces are typically used outside, in kitchens, and in bathrooms.

Stained glass windows and doors are another way to add a little luxury into a vacation home. Home owners can pick their favorite colors, or find colors that match the flowers in their yard. Even a few stained glass windows on the front of the house can make things look a little nicer.

The bathroom is one of the most popular rooms in the house, and there are dozens of ways to improve this room's look and feel. One of the more popular options is to install a bigger Jacuzzi or spa tub. These bathtubs are significantly larger and deeper than a regular tub, and come complete with high powered jets for a relaxing soak. You can also change the bathroom tiles, the counter tops, or even add a bidet.

There are also changes that can be made outside the house too. Many luxury vacation homes have a redwood deck on the back of the house, or on the front. The deck can be made out of different woods, then stained to your personal preference. Some may find that adding a hot tub on the back of the house can make a big difference too.

These are only a few of the many changes that anyone can make to turn their second home into a luxurious vacation retreat.
