Creationism is based on the Bible, primarily the book of Genesis. It states that every living being was created by God according to its own kind, and that there was, and is, a purpose and plan for everything and everyone. Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Verses 1:2-27 go on to explain the creation of the earth and its creatures, including humans.
So which side is to be chosen? Both views have reasonable points. Evolution comes across as far-fetched in some places, but interestingly true in others. Creationism comes across as a surprisingly simple explanation, and a feel-good children's book. Each makes a good story line. However, one does not simply wish to hear a good story. One wants, and needs, to know the truth. The "who" and "how" must be addressed.
When one looks at nature, it is impossible to deny that it is beautiful. But if one really takes the time to study nature, he/she may find some breathtaking discoveries. Many creatures are created so perfectly to fit their surroundings that it is uncanny. Life in general is so detailed. Every condition must be perfect for it to flourish and fit into the puzzle here on earth. The human brain alone is so intricate and complex that it is nearly impossible for someone to understand it 100%. Could all of this have been created by a mere accident? Could it all come from a single piece of pond scum? Or was there an incredibly intelligent and powerful creator that molded life, paying very close attention to each and every detail? Can there be magic without a magician?
World renowned author Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "All that I have seen readies me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." However, the evidence all around in this world is still not enough to convince everyone to believe in God. It takes more. It takes faith. French writer and philosopher Francios Marie Arouet wrote, "Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. It is not enough that a thing be possible for it to be believed." One has to take a deep breath, dive in, and trust without complete understanding. Then again, does not evolution require faith as well? Evolutionists admit that they do not fully understand how their theory happened, but they still claim that it did happen. How could conditions just happen to be absolutely perfect for life to suddenly spring into existence? How could one cell create the billions of different types of beings on the earth
