Bible study: Adam and Eve

Adam and Eve

1 Corinthians 15:27 For as all in Adam die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Satan tempted Eve by making her focus on the one thing she couldn't have.

Satan used a sincere motive to tempt Eve: "You'll be like God"
That "want" is not wrongwe should all strive to be more "God-like"

However, remember: Philippians 2:5-7 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Pleasant sins are the hardest ones to avoid.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Notice what Eve did: Genesis 3:7 "When the woman saw" The battle with sin is often lost with the first look

Where was Adam in all of this? NIV Genesis 3:6b She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

After tempting Eve the serpent doesn't say another word. He doesn't have to, he's already won.

After sinning there was guiltbe glad for guilty feelings, it lets you know what you've done is wrong

Honesty will strengthen your relationship with God (He knows anyway). Sin can break this relationship

Notice what Adam says: "The woman You gave me" That sounds like he's blaming Godyeah, good choice
1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Discussion Questions

~ How could Eve have resisted temptation?
- Matthew 4:10 "Away with you, Satan"
- Being tempted is not the sin. Jesus was sinless
1) Pray for the strength to resist
2) Run, sometimes literally
3) Say NO
- James 1: 12-13 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

~ List pleasant and unpleasant sins. Why are pleasant harder to avoid?
~ Where was Adam in this? NIV says "She gave some to her husband, who was with her"

~ Where are you naked? What are your fig leaves?
