Comparing the quality of Associated Content and Constant Content

If you're reading this article, then you already know how you can make money writing for Helium, but maybe you don't know about the opportunities that Associated Content and Constant Content can also offer online freelance writers. I've written for both, and they both offer different types of opportunities.

Which one is best will depend on your style of writing, your knowledge of marketing, and your ability to meet the very different needs of these two sites.

Associated Content:

Associated Content offers up front payments that can range from anywhere from $1-$20. Most articles fall into the $3-$10 range, with the rest usually coming from requested content. It's getting harder and harder to get articles accepted for up front payment, but if you do your homework and keep at it, after a while you'll get a good feel for what will and won't get accepted and adjust accordingly.

I've made several hundred dollars off of Associated Content, and this is maintaining them as a part time writing thing-I never get remotely close to spending 40 hours a week writing for them. The other added bonus to Associated Content is that aside from up front payment, you can also get a "page per view" bonus that helps split their Adsense revenue with you, similar to the way Helium pays their writers. So even after that first payment your articles can continue to earn a trickle of income for you as long as they're on the website.

As long as you only sold "Non-Exclusive Rights," you can also re-print these articles and sell their usage rights elsewhere, continuing to make sales off of the same article. Another great bonus for Associated Content is that they pay you via PayPal twice a week, and there's no minimum level for payment (on lazy weeks I've gotten several $1 payments).

Constant-Content:

Con stant-Content doesn't pay writers up front. They allow writers to write articles and upload them, choosing a price for "usage," "unique," and "full rights." Then Constant Content takes a percentage (about 40%) whenever a sale is made. The upside to this system is that articles sell for a lot more. I have sold 3 page articles for over $100 on this site, and many of my one page articles went from $15-$40. Articles that sell usage rights also tend to get sold again and again.

The downside: 40% is a pretty sizable cut (though these are sales you wouldn't make otherwise), and you have to get to a $50 threshold (and that's $50 owed to you, not $50 in total sales) before you can cash out. Constant Content pays once a month minimum, sometimes more.

Both of these sites have their strengths and weaknesses, and I would recommend both of them just as I would recommend Helium. You can tailor your time to make certain articles for both sites, and there is decent money to be made at both websites. You may find only one suits you, or you may find both do.

Sometimes your opinion will even change. When I started out I really liked Associated Content more, and while I like them better in the sense of being able to make connections and get outside work (not possible to do with CC), the past two months I've definitely found more money for my time by working for Constant Content.

Hope this article helped, and remember that using these sites and Helium in conjunction can really get your online writing career going!
