How to write a powerful press release

Write a powerful press release that gets published and see the results that you are looking for in your business or organization. A press release has a limited amount of time to make its impact on the media before it becomes old news and is replaced by the new press releases.

Publications stand ready to put out your press release when you send them articles that help them put the word out on your timely, newsworthy events and announcements.

To write a powerful press releases that get published, follow these guidelines:

1.)"Hook" your reader's attention. Write a strong headline and opening sentence to propel the reader's interest through the details of your press release. See if your opening sentence, by itself, could tell the main idea. In the first paragraph, cover the who, what, when, where, how, and why of what you are announcing.

2.)Get good mileage from expert quotes. Strong, succinct quotes drive the press release and nail the main points your are making in the release. You can use direct quotes that you got in your personal interview in-person or on the phone. It is wise to get permission to use direct quotes. You can also use indirect quotes that you get from a written or spoken source hat were not directly made to you.

3.) Write your article to be up-to-the-minute-.
Make sure your information is accurate and of value to others. Therefore, be sure to include information as to why this released information is important to the reader.

4.) Use a newsy style and use correct grammar. Keep the press release to under 500 words, with relatively short sentences, three or four to a paragraph.Remember:Who, what, where, when and why. Make sure it doesn't read like a sales pitch.

5) Provide contact information: points of contact, address, phone numbers, Fax numbers, emails, etc.

6)Limit the jargon or industry specific buzz words. Aim for the general readership.
7)400-600 words s a good target for the length of your press release.

8)The media receive many press releases, so it is important to get your press releases noticed, seen as newsworthy and relevant, and, ultimately, communicated to your target audience.
