Top ways to be entertained

I'm probably one of the very few, but I don't watch much television. To me, television is worse than radio ever thought about being. And much of what is on TV these days, especially out in the boonies, is certainly not something I want to watch-or have the grandkids watch! So I prefer several other ways of entertainment.

For one thing, I love to read. I've been reading since I was about five years old, learning to read from listening to my brothers learn. I have a very eclectic taste in what I read, but pornography is not part of it. I love Westerns, Historical Fiction, Romance (without the steamy sexual scenes), Time and Space Travel, Science Fiction, Biography, Comedy, etc. So I find it easy to settle down with a good book and read for hours.

Another thing I love to do is write. That's probably a good thing, on a site like Helium! I have written a lot of different things in the last twenty years or more. I've written poetry (several different types of poetry), fiction, family history, essays, journals, etc. I love to write, and I love to share my writing.

I love to bake. I bake cookies, cakes, bread, and sometimes pies or cobblers. I love making home-made bread and cookies to share. And I sometimes even go all-out and make yeast bread! I love to bake.

I love to do puzzles. I do the daily crossword in the newspaper, as well as the jumbles. The only puzzles that I have decided NOT to attempt are the Sudoku puzzles. I tried several of the "easy" ones, and they totally frustrated me. So I don't bother with them any more. Some of my friends love them, and hate some of the ones I do, but that is because they have different ways that their minds work. I will leave those puzzles to them; I will do the ones I enjoy.

And I love to visit. Sometimes I visit in person, sometimes on the telephone. And occasionally I will visit through Instant Messenger on the Internet. But I much prefer visiting in person than any other way.

Yes, I can keep myself entertained in many ways. And if everything else stops doing the job, or if I find it necessary, I can always clean house, mow the yard, or help my husband do something out at the sawmill. I don't have a problem with boredom; I'm too busy enjoying life!
