Commentary: The New York Times and the McCain lobbyist scandal

As soon as the story broke about Senator MCain in the NY Times, I knew what would happen. The story & the timing would be blamed on the evil liberal press. After all they have out for the conservatives don't they?

Whoa back up! Are we talking about the same newspaper that endorsed John McCain? Forgive me but I recall that there were several voices at the time leading up to this NY Times article that were ripping John McCain for not being conservative enough. Rush Limbaugh & little Annie Coulter led the charge. No one can call them card carrying liberals. Blessed Fox News was all about Mitt Romney. Each & everyone of them was far more brutal toward John McCain the honorable war hero then Barak Obama would ever dream of being.

No my poor dear fellow American conservatives it not the we commie idealist liberals that are doing any smearing of your future nominee. I personally like the guy. And until there is more to actually go on than vague improprieties I am not changing my view of him. My only disagreement with Senator McCain is his 100 year position on Iraq.

I think conservatives have to give people a little credit. Not all of us are so narrow minded or mean spirited as to judge someone on "spin" Generally that type of thinking comes from the right wing extremists of your own flock. To them the rest of us, including You, are not Christian enough or patriotic enough if we don't spout all the "right" views. And John McCain is more moderate.

What would Obama or Clinton gain from this story at this time? Not much. We liberals have our own party to deal with at the moment.

But you guys haven't been as fired up as we have been. Not until this NY Times story broke that is. Now you seem to be rallying around the"grand ol party" choice. Your gaining party unity. You're able to scape goat someone outside of yourselves. Your favorite enemy, the "liberals".

The NY Times has a job to do. They investigate leads. They write stories. Let me remind you that this same "liberal biased" newspaper broke the White Water story. Smear & innuendo were your friends back then.

In fact I think their still your friends. Because the only one gaining from this story at this time is John McCain.
