Do you look into the mirror and say to yourself, This is not the person I feel like inside'? Have you ever passed up a career opportunity because you were nervous about failing? Or, how about that eye-stopper outfit you saw in the store window, did you run in and buy it or did you think to yourself, I can't wear that, it's not for me'?
There's an interesting truism that goes, "Opportunity waits for the prepared mind". In a nutshell, that means that opportunities in the business world surround us all the time, but only those people who are ready, willing and able will jump up and grab them, and they will succeed. Why? Because many of us are not prepared in our minds to accept them. We believe that we might fail or look like a fool trying, and so we won't allow ourselves to think that we have a chance at success. We let others take our opportunities even when they come to us, and we run from them because we're afraid of failure.
If you have a low self-image, you need to take a look at why you will probably stay at the bottom of your career ladder. Perhaps you believe that you can't be anything more than what you are right now, that you don't deserve to make it to the top in the business world. You need to know before we go any further that every person has the right and the power to be all they can be. If you're not where you want to be because you feel you can't be like someone else or you don't deserve it, then you are the only obstacle that has prevented you from being successful. You need to learn how to change your negative attitude into a positive success.
People with a high self-image make it through to their goals because they believe they can. They know that success doesn't often come by chance; that it's a result of faith in themselves and determination to get there. Those people have a strong self-image and believe that they can succeed. They focus on what they want to be, not what they are right now.
They dress for success, they talk for success and they deliberately put themselves on the path of success regardless of what obstacles are on that path. They overcome some and get knocked down by others, but they keep going because they believe that they can do it. They may complain when they fall down, but they pick themselves up and keep going until they get there. Why? Because they BELIEVE that they WILL get there.
People with a low self-image don't even try because they BELIEVE that they can't succeed. They feel inferior and are self-conscious of failure
