Woe to the man who is content to only survive this life. Truth be told, we are each given just one life and each guaranteed not to survive it.
Perhaps, that's why our soul is driven to seek our innate potential, that spark that makes us unique and makes our life meaningful. We know instinctively that exercising our innate potential, like the thoroughbred winning the Derby, is a brilliant experience that takes your breath away. The pursuit of it drives us, not for monetary gain, but because our very spirit demands it.
Theories on how to unlock our individual potential abound, just as they do for training the race horse. On first blush, both are worthy, even simplistic, goals. It is in the execution, that success becomes exasperating and elusive. Nearly every household has at least one self-help book of this genre. Most are forgotten and collecting dust on a shelf. Life is just too busy to be bothered with such trivial issues of the soul. But I say from experience that attending to matters of the spirit will put your hectic life in order once and for all. Some, even those of low breeding, will reach the pinnacle of their discipline and receive accolades, most won't. The best bred horses may only be destined to become a young girl's cherished hunter. Yet, they all become their individual best and bring out the best in those around them. They reach their innate potential, do we owe ourselves or our families any thing less?
We all have to start somewhere. Never let your current situation limit your future potential. Ask anyone, horses live entirely in the here and now. At the start of the race, thoroughbreds are not thinking about their grain that morning, that their groom missed a spot or even that they might not win. They enter the gates, excited and eager for
