The Mortgage, Three Kids, A Dog, The Car, And You
Well, the 80-hour week at my corporate job was tankin'
Had to figure out a brand new thinkin' and a point of view
The layoffs are a comin' and I soon will be a'stranded
With a mortgage, three kids, a dog, the car and you.
Mister banker-man says we need to make a pay-ment
But the car needs brakes and the vet says the dog has fleas
You got enough cash to sip those chocolate latts
But you won't sew my shirt or patch the holes in the knees of my jeans.
I got a long way to go to get to the promised land
We got a long life to live doing what we do
It's a large check to write to pay off the monthlies
For a mortage, three kids, a dog, the car and you
Uncle Sam wants more, but he's got me cryin' Uncle
His way of freedom is squeezin' the life outta me
They say love is blind, but I think that includes my Uncle
I got no more to give, so what is it he can't see?
I got a long way to go to get to the promised land
We got a long life to live doing what we do
It's a large check to write to pay off the monthlies
For a mortage, three kids, a dog, the car and you
Our friends don't understand why we keep on fighting
Just because you hate me and I don't like the sight of you
Our whole world seems to be in a big old tail-spin
Over the mortage, three kids, a dog, the car, and you.
I got a long way to go to get to the promised land
We got a long life to live doing what we do
It's a large check to write to pay off the monthlies
For a mortage, three kids, a dog, the car and you
A mortage, three kids, a dog, the car and you!
