I believe that the premiership shouldn't extend its season in order to play abroad,every game is available in one form or other to everywhere already so the extra would be pointless.The world already knows what we look like at football,the top players and teams are world wide brands.Millions are already made on foreign markets on team kits and other items.
One big problem would be which country would which teams,without intending any offense who would flock to see derby versus fulham for example,if the top teams were divided up so the top played the bottom then the chance of a hard fought game also lessens because the games are likely to be one sided.
We have plenty of promotion via the national sides,via friendlies and via various club tournaments, a very big advert is the uefa cup and champions league in which the British teams are doing well in again.
There are often excuses made that too many league and cup games exhaust players both mentally and physically,often to the national teams cost,particularly for the world cup and European cup finals.
The only way to make this work would be to decrease the teams in the premiership by 2,this would have the effect of 2 less league games and therefore allow for 1 or 2 games abroad.This of course would be unfair on the lower leagues as it would increase their matches.
We should focus on our existing problems;
1/Where is a British manger to lead england
2/Where are the up and coming British players
3/Why did we fail so badly in the last world cup and why did we fail to even reach the euro finals
Perhaps we can reconsider when we get our own house in order and make it a league worth showing off.
At the moment we would be showing off these faults and more as opposed to a great advert.We would show the top teams with few if any English players,we would show very few english managers and we would show the flaws in our game,in fact in many countries we would probably leave many more happy with their own teams and leagues.
I realise the game is business before much else but this is still as step too far.A major point would be who would benefit from this idea,would die hard fans be allowed to follow their teams abroad,would other leagues have a similar arrangement and the big one I mentioned before,who would play who and where.
it would undoubtedly make a lot of money for the money men but would do little for players and fans,the ones who should be most important.
