Clip art to me are those cartoonish pictures that are great for school projects or making posters. But the default clip art comes with Microsoft words is very lacking. Also some times you need clip art for some abstract or very specific things. It can be a real pain to find free clip art for your specific needs.
The first place many people may look is Microsoft's own website: http://office.microsoft.com
But to me it doesn't make sense to look on the companies website for clip art if its there product you are using which lacks clip art. At there website they do have a lot more then there is in Microsoft Office. But I find there website slow and a pain to navigate. When you want clip art you want it free and fast. You shouldn't have to browse through hundreds of images before you find the clip art you want.
Most people will usually turn to Google to help solve their problems. They usually try to search something like, "free clip art". This will no doubt give you a ton of website with free clip art, but it will even give you ones that are pay per picture or subscription based. So with this strategy you will search then need to search through your search results and locate a website. Once you find a clip art website that actually has "free" clip art its usually a pain. It is a pain, because they are still trying to make money even though it is offering free clip art. These websites are usually filled with lots and lots of advertisements, and even has pop ups that my Firefox web browser doesn't even block! On top of all that, it is not guaranteed to have the clip art you want!
So how can you easily find real free clip art without all the hassle? Well Google is your answer but your not searching for; "free clip art website". I use a little trick myself for finding clip art with Google through Google images: http://images.google.com
To find clip art quickly navigate to Google Images, but don't type in "bulldog" as your search if you want bulldog clip art. To find clip art of a bulldog in Google images it is quite easy just type, "bulldog clip art". Type that without the quotes. This will then return clip art results for bulldogs! The best part is Google doesn't have any annoying advertisements and it will give you the best results.
Once you have searched with Google Images using my above method, and see an image you like this is how you download it:
1. Click the image
2. You will be brought to a new page with a Google frame at the top, and you will see your image in that frame; click the image.
3. Lastly you will be brought to a page with just the image on it and nothing else. Right click the image and select "save as" then name it and pick where you want it to be saved to and then you are done!
