Experience. Experience. Experience. Hillary has been beating this drum, but the message hasn't sunk in. Hillary has international relationships with leaders across the world. She's faced some of our enemies and befriended our allies. Her international diplomacy surpasses that of Barack's by miles. She's lived in the White House before, not as an oblivious bystander, but as an eager student, studying how to make progress and pass legislation in the well-oiled machine of Washington. She learned from her husband's legislative failures and will use them to avoid her own. When Hillary steps into the White House, change will be immediate. In the best case scenario for Barack, change will happen, eventually. In the worst case scenario, the intricacies of the White House and partisanship will restrain him, preventing change before his four-year term comes to an end. Hillary will not be a tentative policy-maker, afraid of making a bold move too early. She knows what is right for the American people and will do what is needed without worrying about the political backlash.
Furthermore, Hillary is best suited to battle the Republicans in the presidential election. She has been there before and suffered through the worse the conservatives could reveal. Republicans tried unsuccessfully for eight years to find ammunition to overthrow the Clintons. The Whitewater and Troopergate fiascoes drastically failed and cost taxpayers millions of dollars in the meantime. Unfortunately for Democrats, this was overlooked when the Lewinski scandal broke, giving Kenneth Starr and his "all star team" something to hang their hats on. Hillary endured more than any other First Lady and still managed to win a Democratic Senate seat in New York, a state infamous for its treatment of outsiders.
On government policy, her health care plan sails past Barack's. His naivety is at its most transparent on this issue. He believes Americans who don't have health care cannot afford it. I am twenty-five years old. I can name at least ten good acquaintances of mine who do not have health care. They can afford it. They would rather not have it because they are young and can't fathom a need for it at this point in their lives. Our generation is premised around short-term rewards, and we fail to see the long-term benefits. Hillary recognizes this. Barack's inability to see the real problem on this issue should demonstrate to Americans that he is too young, too impressionable and too idealistic at this time to make any tangible change in America.
Uniting a country with words is no better than an inspirational speech to a sports team that has no chance of winning. What America needs and what Hillary has to distinguish herself as is an experienced leader who can taking a losing team and implement the right strategies to create a winning record. The United States deserves the chance to compete again in the global playing field. The United States deserves solutions, not answers, to our domestic problems. Hillary is capable of bringing us both and giving America a true leader.
