last main difference is the lack of an optical drive on the Macbook Air. Optical drive is a fancy name for the thing you put your cd's into on your computer. This could be the make or break point for someone wanting to buy a Macbook Air. I personally don't think its that big of a deal, but then you cant put in music cd's, DVD's, or install software directly with your computer. With a Mac the music and DVD's part is taken care of by Itunes which offers both. But then you are trapped into using there services. Installing software is a little more of an issue but its not impossible. If you desperately need to install something on the Macbook Air you can buy a nice external optical drive which looks as slick as the Macbook Air but thats some more money...But over at Apple they have some pretty smart guys. They developed a program that comes with your Macbook Air which can run on a pc or mac which has an optical drive. Now this is pretty cool because you can put the disc in one computer and it will wirelessly show up and install on your Macbook Air!

Finally these are two great laptops built for different needs of the user. Before buying either of the laptops you need to ask yourself what you plan on doing with it. If you want something small and great for traveling then the Macbook Air is great for you. But if you want a laptop with a little more power and storage then the Macbook Pro is for you. And don't believe you can't carry around your Macbook Pro with you everywhere just because it isn't super tiny, because you can. The Macbook Air just makes it easier; and I think it looks a little cooler...
