I remember having Bon Jovi plastered all over my bedroom walls when i was about 14. Blue Tac was eventually banned in our house as it peeled the paint off the walls each time i changed the posters around or got a new ones. The mess it made on the carpet was not all that good either as i was made to sit and pick it all out, and it took a long time let me tell you. You can imagine the look on my face when my 7 year old daughter asked me if she could get some Blue Tac to put up a HI 5 poster in her bedroom.
Decorating a teenagers bedroom is one of the hardest areas of the house to choose a theme for. I mean they want the exact opposite of what you would like to see in there. But remembering back to when i was 14 makes me happy, i know it will only be a fad for a few years ( or days) and they will be on to the next craze before you even finish painting the walls the colour you argued over for 2 weeks.
Home decor has changed somewhat in the last 20 years. Emo is a fashion statement, it is also a theme that a lot of teenagers would love to have in their bedrooms. I did not even know what Emo was until a few weeks ago. I am not a particular fan of the Emo, Punk & Goth look, but then i am not in the 14 - 20 something age bracket either. I must say that i do like Avril Lavigne and she has that typical Emo look. She has her own style which makes her stand out in the crowd and that is what most teenagers want. My tastes are somewhat more Contemporary and Retro now, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I can not judge what you will or will not like.
There is a need to create wall art in this genre for the younger generation. Expression is seen in your chosen home decor. Emo for your space and my space. What does your bedroom decor say about you? Does it give the true feeling of who you really are?
Adding Emo to my collection of Handmade Fabric Wall Hangings has proven to be a good decision. Fabric designs have grown with the times and the designers themselves are covering every market niche and opportunity and therefor i can use this to my advantage. Home decor can be fun, it does not have to be flowers and cute animals all of the time.
