Overcoming the intimidation factor in becoming a writer

and success of others that the writer can draw upon the most effective ways to achieve similar or greater recognition and success for their own writing projects. Intimidation, as with an actor's stage fright, must be overcome when the lights dim and the stage curtain is drawn open. Now that the actor has been exposed to their audience it is time to step forward and play their role. So it is with the writer.

The Internet today offers the writer potentially huge and instantaneous exposure to their published writing that the first time hitting the enter key to submit a written piece can be most intimidating indeed. Yet here is an enormous opportunity, without audition or fanfare, to lay one's writing out there for the world to see with one click of the mouse.

If a writer believes that they have written works worthy of an audience they must overcome that sense of intimidation, that nervous anticipation that by putting their work out there for others to see they may be faced with either outright rejection or strong critique. That exposure must be accepted as a valuable learning tool rather than a cause for hesitation.

As a writer there is no greater sense of accomplishment than getting positive feedback or other forms of recognition and reward for their written submissions. To know that even just one reader responded favorably to a writer's works can become the catalyst or motivation for continued submissions, continued learning and success as an author. Self confidence is born from exposure and critical acclaim.

Embrace your love of writing, overcome initial fears or intimidation and publish. The rewards will surely follow.
