Hypocrisy takes form when people spew their expressive judgment towards other people or society as a whole. In turn those very people masquerade their true-selves, claiming to be what they are not.
The hypocrite is delusional in such that he or she deem themselves as "perfect" when, in fact they, like the rest of society, are not. The hypocrite is an abrasive personality. They are the school bully's, the pedophile Holy Joe's, and the "Warren Jeffs" of our society. However, the hypocrite is, in my eyes, easy to recognize and I give their so-called opinions little merit.
I am not referring to your right to be decisive here. We all have that right. The right to be judgmental to a certain degree.
When we can choose our friends, we choose them based on our own principals. That is being judgmental in a way I feel is fair. We are simply putting some biasness into practice as we decide who we will or will not be acquainted with.
We use judgment as a process for many of our elective choices. From what religion we'll practice, to what schools our children will attend. All of which is perfectly acceptable.
It's when you cross the line of prudence that hypocrisy comes into play.
Drawing unfair "I'm better than you" conclusions about others who have chosen differently than you did is artificial and fraudulent behavior. Laughing at someone who dresses different than you for whatever reason, or sneering at the homeless man on the street. No one has the right to be that judgmental.
The worst kind of hypocrite is the one who is obnoxiously verbal about their judgments. The one who puts others down in front of people in order to make themselves feel somehow more righteous. The one who takes a bite out of another persons self-esteem.
Society can only benefit if we are more understanding. More forgiving. More accepting. What good can come from causing someone else's grief? If you are hiding behind the mask of hypocrisy, I challenge you to take it off. You don't need to look at the world through rose-colored glasses, but at least try looking at the world with a pure and honest heart.
