Ron Paul, to me, is like JFK must have been like to his generation. I am a young voter, and never in my memory has such a truly inspiring man taken on the task of running for president. He speaks with surety, honesty, integrity (a word not often used in politics anymore), and most of all with an eloquence that the common man can really latch on to. His ideas seem radical, but so to must the ideas of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson and the rest of the founding fathers have seemed radical when they convinced our colonies to rebel against the oppressive king, and then to form a new form of government less than a decade later.
Does Ron Paul stand a chance? A resounding yes. The support that he has is dedicated, diverse, intelligent, and resourceful. We are young and old, rich and poor, military and civilian. We are you, and me. The fact that he was able to raise more in a single day than any-other candidate says a lot, but when you take into consideration that those were all private, small donations, averaging only 200 dollars, it says a lot more. It means that his supporters are not big corporate sponsors, but real American People.
He does not have the majority of the delegates so far, but the problem with that is that most of these delegates that have been "Awarded" are not bound by law to vote one way or another. What comes into play is again, the Ron Paul camps' dedication. Many of his supporters have signed up and become delegates. In those states where it is allowed (most), they will not surface their support until it is time to vote, and then they will vote for the good Doctor.
The funny part about the revolution, as it has been called since the firestorm of grassroots support took off when he announced his candidacy is that now, with so many Ron Paul supporters out there, even if Dr. Paul should lose, he has won. His message is out, and people are beginning to ask questions about the system. They are beginning to really learn the issues he speaks to and find that his was right after all. Every day, there are more converts. This is evident in the actions taken by Huckabee, copying stances of Ron Paul. He wants to pick up on that firestorm as well. He sees that the support is there, and that now people will not keep quiet any longer.
So, does he stand a chance? A resounding yes. He has secret or hidden delegates (I know 2 personally and 3 more that are in my precinct as well), and his message has been released, with the info flowing and the supporters carrying the torch high and bright.
