There have been a lot of weird songs written over the years, and any discussion of weird songs has to begin with the man with "Weird" in his name. Of course, I'm talking about none other than "Weird" Al Yankovic.
Weird Al began his career on the Dr. Demento show, which was an old radio show dedicated to weird music. He did a remake of "My Sharona" called "My Bologna", which got regular airplay on Dr. Demento and was Al's first break.
From there, he went on to create parody songs for various modern hits up to the present day. His "victims" of parody include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Sting, Queen, Nirvana, Coolio, Bare Naked Ladies, Tiffany, P Diddy, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and many many more. He also does crazy Polka songs, in which he combines several pop and rock hits, and combines them all into a fast pased polka. It's always odd to go from Hanson's "Mmm-Bop" to Marilyn Manson's "Dope Show" in rapid succession, more so when it's got goofy polka music for the backdrop. Absolutely hilarious!
My personal favorites of his include "Amish Paradise", a remake of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise", and "All about the Pentiums", redone from P Diddy's "All about the Benjamins", and "Fat", from Michael Jackson's "Bad". The video accompanying "Fat" is also classic.
I should also make mention of another very strange song that I think most people would probably overlook, because it's relatively obscure. It's called "They're Coming to Take me Away, Ha Ha" by Napolean XIV. It's the only hit song Napolean XIV ever had, and most people would know if it they heard it.
