The history of witchcraft

of the Divine. As the fantastical myths and attacks began against the Old Religion as the Christian faith spread, those of the old ways went underground so to speak to practice in the religious beliefs. The simple act of going underground would bring in further mystery and accusations against all who openly proclaimed their ways it was also the time when other elements such as community concepts 9coven as its is known today) came into play. Much as within the Christian Church pews, the woman would gather raising their voices and energies up into a single cone of power to send off to the Divine deity. It gave direction for all of those who now felt lost and alone. The number 13 in covens or meetings has no more symbolic meaning than does how one perceives the healing of sage for example. It simply was the largest odd number of woman that could be brought together for a meeting without needing a governmental structure to hold it together.

Black is used as it is not a color but the absence of color and can be used ot blot out personality where as the white is pure color and should be reserved for that which is pure. Black is an equalizer just as nudity is - all are the same. It is true of names as well. You drop your real name to use a craft name in order to be equal to others and is a practice closely tied into the dying and being born again theory.

The Lure of the Old religion

It is the force of the minds energy to induce results through mysterious ways. The ways of nature rather than the ways of man. Essentially all forms of the old religion are earth religions worshiping the forces of nature and the symbolic Mother Goddess.
