As I first stepped into the threshold of my new home the smell of fresh paint and never before stepped on carpet filled my nostrils with delight. Being that I am a smoker and a proud mama of an adorable Shih Tzu, that new home smell did not linger for long. My home slowly but surely began to lose its inviting and appealing smell. I knew that I had to do something about it and quickly, especially with the smell of old cigarette butts and refuses to be trained to do his business outside puppy smell, the smell grew at a metamorphic rate into an overbearing ,lingering and haunting monster, startling all who entered my home and believe me it was scary. I started my quest of eliminating my embarrassing home odor by purchasing some incense. I had always admired entering the eccentric smoke shops in my neighborhood and being swept away by the alluring smells of the magical burning sweet sticks. I instantly became a lover and a fan of the incense and these are my top five favorite smells, which really help to combat strong odors that linger in your home.

1) Sandalwood - The scent of sandalwood, has a rich and deep earthy smell, it has the potential to turn your home into the hills of South India. The strong gritty smell reminds you of Mother Earth and because of that connection, sandalwood often gives your home a very calming effect creating an atmosphere of harmony.

2) Coconut - Sweet yet refreshing incense that instantly brings the peace and serenity of the Islands into your humble abode.

3) Sage - The clean and pure scent of sage is therapeutic and hypnotizing. Sage is purifying and the scent is long lasting. Sage is used to clean negativity, so you can rest assure it will clean the air around your home. This option is a cheaper version of an air re-cycler; this scent has a dynamic, refreshing appeal.

4) Egyptian Musk - A full, warm attracting scent that stimulates sensuality, provocative with a hint of musk. This incense is perfect for a midnight romantic dinner for two.

5) Frankincense/Myrrh - A mystical spicy blend of a sweet and rich woody aroma. A very strong scent that aids clarity and restoration in the air. This scent delivers a punch to any unfavorable odors in the home and knocks it right out.

I soon graduated to the addictive world of fragrance oils. I became an avid buyer of these strong oils, which oppose to incense, provide a much longer, permeating smell throughout the home. There are many of different choices available to the consumer of essential
