presented. Mrs. C tossed one of those weird questions to the class waiting for a show of hands to convince her that her teaching was actually getting through to some of her students. As soon as she asked the question, ten hands must have leaped into the air trying to attract her attention in an effort to give her the answer. I for one was beneath one of those hands.
Mrs. C got a big grin on her face thinking "Wow, I finally got through to this kids. See this, he can learn and respond."
Of course I knew she would pick me to answer her question and as she did I proceeded to give her the correct answer, however I merely moved my lips. I spoke not a word for Mrs. C being extremely hard of hearing was able to read lips. As I moved my lips in response to her question, she shouted with joy.
"That is exactly right Joseph," She loudly proclaimed. "You are certainly correct in that sense."
About this time, my friend in the back of the class decided to speak up and he was going on loudly about not being able to hear what I said.
"What did he say?", Jerry bellowed. "I couldn't hear him back here."
At this time she whipped her old frail body around and stared directly towards Jerry while pointing her shaky finger in his direction and said, "Pay attention next time and you will hear him."
Under my breath, I was laughing on the floor but in front of her all I could do was look at Jerry and grin. If I remembered nothing else about Mrs. C's biology class, it was this episode in my early life. Eventually, I came to enjoy biology unfortunately; it was after high school and well into college.
