other things wrong as well, please check the following:
a. Open your case and ensure that the RAM stick(s) are properly seated and are free from any damage.
b. Make sure that nothing is making contact or obstructing the RAM stick(s).
c. Think back, and ensure that your computer or memory stick(s) have not came in contact with any kind of static electricity or other substances and matter that may be harmful to your computer.
If a,b or c is not valid to your current situation, then it could be a hardware issue. But before you take your computer in to be fixed consider the next.
4. NEGLECTED REGULAR MAINTENANCE
With our busy lives most of us can't take a few hours just to make sure our computers are clean and running smoothly what with work, family and kids in all. When that happens slow accumlative problems eventually do happen. When performing regular maintenance, the following should be done:
1. Full ScanDisk and Disk Defragmentation
2. Full Spyware and Virus Removal
3. Perform "Disk Cleanup" to removal any old and useless system files
4. Clear the "temporary Internet Files" folders and other history cache folders (unless you want or need the history to be saved)
5. Its always not a bad idea to once every so often compact and backup your registry as well as set or create a new system restore point for those in case emergencies.
Steps like these should be completed at bear minimum once a month or once every two weeks if you have time to do so.
If all of the above steps have failed to solve your problem, then it is most likely a hardware that could involve more than your memory. It could be your processor, it could be a hard drive RPM malfunction. Every component of computer hardware works in conjunction with each other so when there is a hardware issue, unless you can isolate the problem it could be anything.
