Testimonies: When fathers refuse to pay child support

The term child support is just a term that is used often to lightly. I have seen this from all sides of the coin. First I was divorced and my ex was supposed to pay me a mere $200.00 per month for three children. I was working and supporting all three boys on my own without the help of any other person or the state.

Every month would go by and there was never a child support payment in the mail. He was court ordered to have only supervised visits with the children so he chose not to see them. Then he started denying that he was their father, he even convinced his family that they were not his children. Their whole family chose not to have any type of relationship with the boys.

All is fine with us, I graduated from college and got offered a job 1500 miles away so I went through the normal process that a person is suppose to go through with the certified mail and giving him time to object to our moving. Just before leaving for my job, I went to his house and offered him a way out of child support. I told him I had the ability to support our boys on my own and if he agreed to call them once a month and on holidays I would tell the child support office that I no longer needed their assistance. His reaction, well he said many hurtful things and told me that he did not want anything to do with our children.

Time went by, I was successful in my employment and the boys got everything they needed even though I had to work many hours and spend a lot of time away from them. The boys grew up to be very caring compassionate adults.

When the boys were adults however, I had enough. My ex had to take responsibility for his children and give to them what he denied from them for so many years. We did not own our own home; we did not have the fancy car or toys. We just lived a normal paycheck to paycheck life. I called the child support office back where I had the child support order and told them they had to do something, it had been years since my children had gotten any kind of support from their dad or any kind of contact.

Well after many years of hiding and warrants issued for his arrest, I moved back to the town I had the court order in because it felt like they were not going to do anything for me because the money he owed was not to the state. After living there for about a year, with the help of my old friends I found him. I tracked him down, and he tried to run me and my friend over. Well out of respect of the business owner I did not call the police that day but on
